"A good head and good heart are always a formidable combination. But when you add to that a literate tongue or pen, then you have something very special." — Nelson Mandela
FDSC believes that through developing successful and targeted projects, such as its University Scholarship Program, and together with other likeminded people, it is possible to make a lasting difference now and into the future.
As in many developing nations, Thai students from poorer backgrounds face enormous challenges in obtaining secondary and tertiary education. For those fortunate to secure federal loans to cover their tuition, they are handicapped due to the fact that their families are unable to provide for them financially while they study.
FDSC’s program offers disadvantaged high school, university and occasionally MBA students partial scholarships to cover their food, transportation and housing costs. Additional services are offered in the form of special social activities, remedial English studies and personal coaching and support. The program, which awards nearly 45 full or partial scholarships annually, is made available primarily to students with disadvantaged backgrounds, often orphaned or from impoverished hill tribe communities.
Through providing educational opportunities and mentoring to develop students’ inner potential, they are empowered with the necessary life skills and confidence to become focused, well-adjusted leaders in the future. Beneficiaries of the program emerge with a profound awareness of the power of making a difference, and are motivated to “pay it forward” to others in their own community.
FDSC offers the opportunity to not only local Thai residents and businesses but also kind-hearted people from around the world to sponsor a disadvantaged Thai student. For as little as $100 per month you can help a student take that important step of studying at university level or taking advanced English courses which will not only guarantee them a better job, but also make a lasting difference in their world.
