Semya reaches out to the disadvantaged in the local community by sourcing and distributing humanitarian aid. Donated goods are distributed to schools, orphanages and centers for the disabled, as well as struggling families.
Local businesses sponsor items such as food staples, toys, toiletries and household items. Sympathetic donors from overseas make it possible to collect and distribute large amounts of donated clothing and shoes—sometimes up to 2500kg at a time, as well as educational materials.
A specific area of focus is providing relief to underprivileged families. The Social Services department identifies families in financial hardship and Semya networks with sponsors to help provide their basic necessities.
One family that has been a beneficiary for several years is the Nagyorne family. Though raising two perfectly healthy children, the parents are both severely disabled and have difficulty earning any income. Semya provides monthly groceries and other needs for a few families such as the Nagyorne family. Numerous other families have been supplied with computers, clothing and toys.
