An important aspect of the Nuevos Horizontes mission is the distribution of humanitarian aid and food assistance to local institutions and people in need.
Each week, volunteers collect donations of food from sponsors, and then deliver the much needed items to orphanages, after-school programs, and other community facilities.
In 2012 alone, the Nuevos Horizontes team has channeled more than 3,000 lbs of food and other items to needy organizations and individuals.
The November 7th, 2012 earthquake (7.2 on the Richter scale) caused widespread damage and destruction in the western part of Guatemala, resulting in 44 deaths, close to 26,000 homeless and more than 1 million displaced or otherwise affected.
Two days later, Nuevos Horizontes opened a Collection Center in the town of Antigua, to collect donations of food, clothing, blankets and other needed items for distribution to the earthquake victims, especially those in smaller towns and villages where government help can take time to arrive. Please consider making a donation for this needy cause.
